Biography
1907 Born in Fukushima
1924 Designing signs for store fronts
1932 Moved to Tokyo, attend Hongo Painting Institute and learn Western-style painting, and started woodblock prints making
1937 Only woodblock print making, and produced "winter in Aizu" series
1943 Met Onchi, became the member of Japanese Woodblock Association
1945 Group show with Un-ichi Hiratsuka and Hide Kawanishi, Tokyo
1951 First prize for Steady Gaze at the inaugural Sao Paolo Bienniale
1956 Visited the U.S
An Art Reborn: Statler's, Modern Japanese Print
1997 Died
